What is Video Poker
Video poker can be thought of as a game similar to slot machines. Indeed, it is a very simple game and easy to access, and the player is alone in front of the machine. Except with video poker, just spinning the reels isn't enough. You need to have a good knowledge of the different poker hands to be able to win. Video poker is also a very fast game, because there are only two rounds, but also because, unlike traditional poker, you are the only player.
If you've dreamed of trying your hand at video poker, but don't know where to start, don't worry, Casino Midnight has it all. We are going to see the different poker hands that are essential to know, the basic rules of the game, and finally the most famous variations of the game.
The different poker hands
In general, to hope to receive winnings, you need at least a pair of jacks. However, this can vary depending on the version of poker, but we'll get to that later. So far we have compiled a list of the different hands you should know in poker.
High card: the "high card" or the higher card is the strongest card.
Pair: pair designates two identical cards. This is the smallest hand in video poker. But be careful, consult the paytable before starting a game, because in some variants the pair does not win any winnings.
Double Pair: Double Pair is a hand made up of two different pairs.
Three-of-a-kind: three-of-a-kind is three identical cards. This hand is not very difficult to obtain especially if you are starting the game with a pair already made.
Straight/straight: a straight or more commonly called a straight means a hand made up of five consecutive cards. It is the value of the cards that is important and not the flush, so an example of a straight would be 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.
Color / Flush: A hand called a flush, or flush, is a hand made up of a family of cards. Unlike a straight, here it is not the value of the cards that are taken into account, but the flush. So an example of a flush would be five hearts.
Full house: The full house, sometimes called a full hand, is a hand made up of three of a kind and a pair. You must therefore have three identical cards and two other identical cards.
Square: Square designates a hand of four identical cards. This is a hand that is sometimes referred to simply as "poker".
Straight flush / straight flush: this hand, therefore, combines the principles of the straight and the flush, that is to say, that you must have five consecutive cards, but which are also of the same suit.
Royal Straight Flush: This hand is very difficult to obtain. The royal straight flush is a hand consisting of a 10, jack, queen, king, and ace, all of the same suit.
